Most advanced players seems to have similar methods for farming level 10 NPC's.  Personally, I don't use the warrior pre-waves... can't be bothered, and I've yet to be shown it is time/resource-effective to do so. This is the method my alliance use.  Typically we have 1-3k more archer losses than this.  This is the lowest losses I've seen to date.  can anyone show a report with fewer losses? If warrior pre-waves were used, please include those in the post.

FYI, screenshots would be better. Battle reports can't be seen by everyone, and most expire.

EDIT:  I Just noticed this image, and those of my other posts, do not work well when using a theme with a dark background, like smartDark.  Please switch to a lighter theme, like Chrome or subSilver to see correctly, or right-click on images and choose to load in a new tab for perfect viewing.

DC,

I'm at a stage in World 16 where there's basically one thing to do for me, which is taking over a level 10 NPC, other than that it's just farming NPC to keep up troops.

I had an attempt last weekend, which failed horribly. I had one of our big players in the alliance pave the way for me, but I don't know what he sent as initial attack. I'm about 5 mins away from a level 10, but if I send in transporters or ballista it takes more like 10 minutes.

Since i'm relatively new at these games I'm at a complete loss and would like some help and tips...

At the moment I've got 105K archer, around 80K warrior and then some bits and bobs...

Summary: To be honest... I'd say wait.

First off, if you're more than 1 mile (or 1.2) from an NPC10, your job is more difficult, both in timing and in losses, particularly when you're on a troop budget, as you are.  For the experienced NPC10 conqueror, a little foolhardy but certainly possible... for someone new to it... it wouldn't be pretty.  You're scraping the barrel in attempting to take out an NPC10 with what you have.

For every 6 minutes between your waves (not strictly true but for simplicity) another 40k warriors will appear, along with some regenerated fortifications.  That's why its best to hit with a big wave, then a medium wave (spearhead), and then 6/7 smaller waves in rotation, so as they come back, you send them out, each time healing what is in the medic camp and keeping regenerated warriors/forts to a minimum. For example, if you are using 8 waves (9/10 feels excessive to me), and your target is 2.5mins away (about 1 mile), then 8 waves rotating over 5mins would make a wave each about 38 seconds apart.  That keeps losses low.  Now imagine double the distance, so 4x the total distance travelled there and back... waves are now 2 minutes, and losses significantly more.

I'll admit the first three take-downs I did, my timing was bad, I was starting to get nervous because I was watching troops numbers dwindling and wondering whether I would run out before I took the city, and I'd forget rainbows on some in trying to get back to timing. You HAVE to expect things to go wrong the first few times. (of course some people are perfect... most of us aren't.) Smile

If you're dead set on doing it, I'd suggest forget the transports (since they only help increase the total resource take... they don't speed the conquer of the city) and go with 97k archers, 3k warriors, WITH a war horn and corselet, and your best hero (90+ attack preferably).  All heroes involved should be 70+ attack. When the archers return (will seem like forever and you'll be doubting whether you should continue for at least half the time), send out 40k archers with 40k warriors, then 4 more waves of 14k archers and 10k warriors, spaced out every 2 minutes.  You can take out 40k warriors with just 10k archers and a rainbow... they're incredibly weak, but if you hit 2 warrior regens due to poor timing/bad luck... you could easily lose the wave. Soldier on still.  If your troop numbers drop below the stated waves, adjust accordingly.  What you'll find is that the waves you have to use, due to small troops numbers, will mean instead of hitting for 3 or 4 loyalty, you'll hit for 2 or even 1.  A process that can be done this way in under 30mins, will take you an hour, with more losses, nerves, and frustration.

Have I put you off enough yet? Razz

Perfect numbers:
Archers:  97k + 40k + 6x20k = 257k, +10% float = 283k
Warriors:   3k + 40k + 6x15k = 133k, +10% float = 147k

I don't suggest you wait until you have those numbers, but as you can see, you're a long way from them.

The other solution, is to work with a friend(s). Smile  Have him send the first wave, and then you can do the rest, increasing your wave size accordingly.  Maybe your friend can do the first two, with you coordinating time, and your waves are bigger still. This is how daFallen started.  Friends working together, taking down NPC10's a lot earlier and easier than most.

Your alliance will get to at a point where if someone wants an NPC10 conquered, people are queuing to assist, previously because of the Nation and Justice medals to get to Prinzessin (which has just been made much harder due to a change in medals) but also because of the 1.8 million XP for their hero on the first hit alone. Smile

EDIT:  SCOUT the target. Each time you scout (with just 1 scout), the hero will change. When you find a hero under level 10, STOP scouting, and the last hero scouted will be the hero you face.  If you forget this, and end up fighting a level 45 or even 50 hero... your losses can be much greater.

If you don't have an alliance which would help like that, despite being able to... time for a new alliance. Smile

Well... you did ask. Razz
